Dr. Pamela J. Pine
A Life Dedicated to Healing and Change
Dr. Pamela Pine has spent her life turning pain into purpose. A global advocate for children, a passionate educator, trainer, and speaker and a believer in the power of action, she has worked tirelessly to prevent and heal childhood trauma. But her journey began long before her professional career—it started in a home filled with science, art, and a deep sense of responsibility.
Raised by a mother who was both a speech therapist and an actress and a father who was a chemist, Dr. Pine grew up in an environment where curiosity was encouraged. Her parents showed her, not just through words but through their actions, that the world could be improved. Her mother worked with deaf children and helped older women in her community. Her father, a scientist, refused to harm animals in experiments, even when it cost him professionally. These early lessons shaped her core belief: when something is wrong, you don’t just watch—you take action.
This mindset took her around the world, from Yemen to the Congo, from Ecuador to New Zealand. She has worked on issues like leprosy treatment, child abuse prevention, and global health. Her life has been about finding ways to help, heal, and bring positive change to people who need it most.

Creating Change, One Step at a Time
Dr. Pine is proud of many things—her children, her writing, her art, and even her home and garden, which she transformed into a space of comfort and beauty. But the work she has done through Stop the Silence®, the organization she founded, is what defines her current mission. Now part of the Institute on Violence, Abuse, and Trauma (IVAT, https://www.ivatcenters.org/stop-the-silence), her program works to prevent and address child abuse and other adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). Through education, advocacy, and training, she has given survivors a voice and equipped professionals with the tools to protect children.
The Power of Choosing Positivity
Life has taught Dr. Pine a crucial lesson: while pain and hardship are inevitable, how we respond is a choice. Every day, she makes the conscious decision to focus on action instead of despair.
Her daily habits reflect this mindset. She starts each morning with gratitude, reminding herself of something positive. She throws herself into work, even when it’s difficult. She takes time to notice beauty—whether in nature, art, or human kindness. She exercises to stay strong, and before bed, she reflects on the best part of her day. These simple habits help her keep moving forward, even when the work is heavy.

Inspired by Those Who Made a Difference
Dr. Pine’s parents were her first and greatest teachers, but many others have influenced her along the way. Some, like a Catholic nun she worked with in Yemen, showed her new ways of thinking about faith, service, and humanity. Others, even those who were difficult or negative, taught her important lessons. Every person, every experience, has shaped her journey.

Building a Better Future
Her work is far from over. Right now, she is focused on two major projects:
- Expanding Education: She has developed, in partnership with the University of Applied Research and Development (UARD), based in the UK, a self-paced Certificate to Master’s degree program in Child Protection, designed to train professionals around the world in preventing and responding to child abuse.
- Spreading Awareness: Through public speaking, she aims to educate and inspire people to take action against childhood trauma.

A Life of Purpose
Dr. Pamela Pine’s story is a reminder that we all have the power to create change. Whether through big actions or small, through our careers or our daily choices, we can make a difference. She has spent her life proving that healing is possible—not just for individuals, but for entire communities.
Her mission is clear: to protect, to educate, and to bring hope. And as long as there is work to be done, she will keep moving forward—one step, one action, one life at a time.
